Strategic Planning. Developed and managed the strategic planning process for a mid-sized consulting firm.

Organization Strategy. Designed an organizational structure with clear reporting relationships that supported accelerated growth and enabled the consulting company to easily add new business areas as the company grew.

Sales Compensation Strategy. Facilitated the development of the sales compensation strategy for the CEO and the leadership team that included outlining compensation plan design elements, collecting data on competitive compensation, identifying issues that needed to be addressed and developing alternative compensation plans for consideration.

Consultant Compensation. At a medium sized IT services firm, managed the total compensation program for consultants.

Profile of Consulting Success. For two consulting groups, worked with the leadership teams to create the profile of a successful consultant to be used for interviewing candidates for employment and for evaluating consultant performance.

Consulting Operations Design and Implementation

Sales Process, Tools and Templates. Designed a sales process and supporting tools and templates for a start up consulting firm that focused on selling solution-based engagements.

Client Contracts. Established a set of standard contract templates to ensure that major contract clauses were always present in an executed contract while also allowing for flexibility in documenting specifications for each unique engagement.

Candidate Referral Program. Designed an appropriate employee recognition and financial incentives program to build a successful source of candidate referrals.

Performance Management. Led a 360-degree performance management process for gathering input from clients, colleagues, team leader(s) and the consulting associates. Created the evaluation form and tabulation/reporting process and a program for training associates in the performance management process.

Resource Management. Designed and implemented a resource management process for assigning consulting associates to engagements that took into account the specific skills required for the engagement, the professional needs of the consultant and the growth of the consulting companies strategic capabilities.

Selection, Hiring and Exit Process. Designed and implemented a selection process to identify qualified candidates, a hiring process to organize and ease the transition of new employees into the company and an exit process to complete the employment relationship, to recover firm assets and to foster positive alumni relations.

Financial Reporting. For a number of consulting organizations, developed financial reporting tools to enhance management decision-making. Types of tools developed included utilization tracking and reporting, operations budgeting, client and product/service revenue and profitability reporting, engagement profitability tracking and reporting.

Time and Expense Reporting. For a number of consulting organizations, developed time and expense reporting processes and tools/templates that did not overly burden the consulting associates and provided timely and accurate information for client invoicing and management reporting.

Engagement Initiation. For a number of consulting organizations, developed a template for initiating engagements that included the capture of information required to invoice clients based on the client's invoicing requirements, for both full time, salaried employees and subcontractor resources.

Candidate Interview Guide. Developed structured interview formats to deliver consistent messages and probe for appropriate information to make selection decisions.

Client Satisfaction Surveying. Developed the process and formats to survey clients on their satisfaction with the services provided by the consulting company.

Consulting Training, Development and Mentoring

Consulting Skills Training. Designed a consulting skills course that focuses on the knowledge and skills required for delivering exceptional consulting services. This course is delivered to a number of consulting companies on a regular basis.

Facilitation Skills Training. Designed a facilitation skills course that emphasizes tools, techniques and tips for successfully facilitating client meetings. This course is delivered to a number of consulting companies on a regular basis.

New Employee Orientation. Created a process and templates for first-day and first-month orientation of new consulting associates that included a checklist of information, resources and contacts for the new associate to travel through in the first month of employment.

Training Budget Planning. Assisted the CEO of a mid-sized consulting firm identify the best use of budgeted training resources that included a mix of funding for CBTs, associate-led information sharing lunches, professional conference support, certification training and formal classroom training.

One-on-One Consultant Coaching. Provided one-on-one coaching to a number of consultants to enhance their consulting professionalism and to ensure successful client assignments/engagements.

Coaching in Facilitation Skills. Provided one-on-one coaching to a number of consultants to prepare them to successfully facilitate client workshops/meetings.

Consulting Management Staffing

Internal Candidate Selection Process. Worked with two consulting organizations to implement a selection process for internal candidates seeking practice area and sales leadership opportunities. The process involved the use of outside candidate assessment tools, coaching based on the results, and development planning for future opportunities.

Team Leader Selection Process. Managed a reality-based selection process for team leadership at a medium sized consulting organization. The process involved role-playing, written assessments and group decision-making.

Fit for Consulting. Regularly assessed leadership candidates for their "fit for consulting" by focusing on the candidate's readiness for the consulting profession and how the candidate's profile aligned with the mission, vision, values and culture of the consulting organization.
